Yard, Garden and Patio Show 2009

This weekend is the YGP show at the Oregon Convention Center! I would post more pictures of how amazing the gardens look as they come together, but I have been in hyper focused garden and planter building mode all this week and keep forgetting to take photos. I will surely catch up over the next few days, but come down and see the amazing, springy lushness for yourself!
The show opens tomorrow and goes through Sunday. The YGP website has lots of information, plus a blog(with coupons). The theme of the show is ‘Sustainability’ and that is interpreted in a lot of creative ways. There are live chickens involved, (hopefully) live ladybugs, as well as compost, rain gardens, vegetables where they probably have no business being, ungodly amounts of pavers, beautiful stone walls, checker lilies, a pretty sexy snag, snagged from a pretty sexy homeowner’s backyard, and much, much more.
I’ll be down there on and off all weekend, so stop in and say hi. If you aren’t convinced, let me just say you do not want to miss the coloring pages at the Dennis’ Seven Dees kids’ (of-all-ages) activity station.
I’ll be discussing gardening, sustainability, and Dennis’ Seven Dees display garden on AM Northwest tomorrow morning - tune in at 9 am to KATU.
And on Saturday around 9:30 am I’ll be a guest on 1190KEX The Garden Doctor, live from the YGP show. It’s a very fun, participatory program, so please call in with a garden or design question!
